We currently have a vacancy for a junior IT support engineer. We need someone with the energy and interest to help move themselves and the company forward.

Position Overview

• Provide remote and telephone support for client networks and applications. • Provide on-site support for client networks and applications. • Install PCs, printers, servers, networks, broadband routers, firewalls etc. • Covering central Scotland from office base in Glasgow city centre. • Out of office hours working can be necessary. • Must be willing to invest into growing their role and the company itself. • Starting salary of £14k-£17k per annum depending on experience and qualifications, with review after 6 months.

General Requirements

• Excellent problem solving skills. • Ability to multitask and manage own workload. • Some experience in an IT support role or similar role of benefit. • Strong organisational, communication and customer service skills. • The ability to adjust to changing priorities with fast decision making under pressure. • Strong interpersonal skills. • Relevant IT qualifications (MCP/MCTS/CompTIA) a benefit. • Ability to quickly learn new applications and technologies. A genuine interest in emerging technologies is essential.

Technical Skills

• Able to install, configure, upgrade and relocate PC hardware, software and print devices. • Experience of Windows XP, Vista, 7, 8, Office XP – 2013 problem solving. • Experience of Apple Mac and Apple technologies (iPhone, iPad etc) an advantage. • Experience of cloud technologies such as Office 365 an advantage. • Experience of PC hardware troubleshooting and problem solving. • Basic understanding of LAN/WAN technologies. Ethernet, DNS, ADSL, VPN, wireless and mobile technologies. • Understanding of virtualisation concepts. • Basic knowledge of Microsoft Windows Server technologies and Active Directory. • Experience with any of the following an advantage: Exchange Server and mobile email technologies / virtualisation technologies / cloud services / VoIP and telephony.
