IT Support Engineer

We currently have a vacancy for a support engineer. As a young company there is a large scope for the right person to progress from this position. We need someone with the energy and interest to help move themselves and the company forward.

Position Overview

  • Provide on-site support for clients networks and applications.
  • Provide remote and telephone support for clients networks and applications.
  • Install PCs, printers, servers, networks, broadband routers, firewalls etc.
  • Evaluate new technologies and products that might be of use to small businesses.
  • Element of flexible/home working possible.
  • Broadband, mobile phone, vehicle allowances or vehicle provided to the right candidate.
  • Covering central Scotland from base in Glasgow.
  • Out of office hours working often necessary.
  • Must be willing to invest into growing their role and the company itself.
  • Starting salary of £17k-£24k per year depending on experience.
General Requirements

  • Excellent problem solving skills.
  • IT related BSc or equivalent qualification.
  • Strong organizational, communication, leadership and customer service skills.
  • Project planning and management skills.
  • The ability to adjust to changing priorities with fast decision making under pressure.
  • Strong interpersonal skills.
Technical Skills

  • Able to install, configure, upgrade and relocate PC hardware, software and print devices.
  • Experience of Windows 2000, XP, Office 2000 - 2003 problem solving.
  • Experience of PC hardware troubleshooting and problem solving.
  • Understanding of LAN/WAN technologies. Ethernet, ADSL.
  • Knowledge or experience of Microsoft Exchange or Microsoft Small Business Server is essential.
  • Experience in IT support role - preferably supporting smaller businesses.
